STATEMENT OF SUPPORT
The Department of Nutritional Sciences wants to express our solidarity with our Asian and Asian American community members. In the wake of recent bias and hate incidents on or near the University of Wisconsin campus, online and elsewhere in the country, we call for full and deep solidarity with students, faculty and staff members, and neighbors of Asian descent. We reject xenophobic and hateful attacks directed at people of Asian descent during the COVID-19 crisis. We, too, affirm the words of Patrick Sims, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Diversity and Inclusion, that “racism and xenophobia have no place in the #UWMadison community.”
Virtual Town Hall – COVID-19: Supporting Our Pan-Asian Communities in This Time of Crisis
In response to xenophobic and hateful attacks directed at people of Asian descent in Wisconsin during the COVID-19 crisis, a partnership of community, education and government organizations will host a virtual town hall at 6:00 PM CST on Tuesday, May 19. The event is an effort to let the community know they are supported in these unprecedented times, and to share available resources.
